A Soapstone wood burning stove /masonry heater is unlike any other conventional wood burning stove. Our fireplaces provide comfortable, long lasting radiant heat. They have been used to heat homes in Northern Europe and Scandinavia for centuries.
Unlike standard wood burning stoves, a soapstone masonry heater uses the soapstone mass to store the heat, and slowly radiates it over time. The heat released by the soapstone, very much feels like the heat from the sun when you sit in a sunroom.
The soapstone masonry heater is a contraflow heater, which is designed with inner channels that guide the burnt gases , circulating it up and down the inner channels and by doing this, all stones absorb that energy/heat, before releasing out the chimney. In standard wood stoves, all that energy goes straight up the chimney, and for the most part wasted.
