Soapstone masonry heaters offer beauty, efficiency, and a timeless technology that cannot be found in standard wood-burning stoves. Unlike traditional fireplaces, which emit blistering short lived convection heat in close proximity, soapstone stores and releases heat slowly. The heat released feels very much like the warmth provided by afternoon light in a sunroom.

In addition to being comfortable, soapstone masonry heaters are incredibly efficient because of soapstone's thermal mass. Our fireplaces utilize contraflow technology, which means that the combustion gases are directed through channels within the unit before being released through a chimney. This allows the thermal mass of the soapstone to absorb and slowly radiate the heat over a long period of time, after the fire has burnt out, unlike a traditional fireplace, where much of the energy is wasted by being immediately released through the chimney.

Soapstone masonry heaters are also exempt from EPA regulations  since they are recognized by EPA to be inherently clean-burning due to their high burn rates and air-rich characteristics. Please contact us if you need more detailed information regarding this exemption.
