Comfort, Beauty & efficiency with A Soaptone Masonry Heater
What is the difference between a Soapstone woodstove and a Soapstone Masonry Heater?
A lot of people look at the soapstone masonry heaters and soapstone woodstoves and ask: "So, they look the same, what is the difference, and why is the masonry heater so much more expensive?"
Basically, without answering this question in a thousand words, these are the basic differences:
1- The Soapstone masonry heater is built 100% with soapstone, both inside and out, while the soapstone woodstoves, have a cast iron insert that is covered with soapstone.
2- While the soapstone surround dramatically improves the woodstove's efficiency, still, the wood is burned in the firebox and it goes right out the chimney, as it does with any wood stove available in the market. The masonry heater on the other hand, through inner chambers, forces the combustion gases up and down the heater(contraflow concept) then vents from the bottom rear. As the gases flow through the heater, all that energy is absorbed by the soapstone, which then releases it as radiant heat for hours.
